Christmas is coming! It’s that time of year when HR and party planning committees start to get questions from everyone about what’s happening for this year’s work Christmas party.
It has been an exceptionally long year for businesses across Sydney. From learning to work from home to simply surviving, we’ve all had it tough. We have spent more time indoors than ever before and everyone is itching get outside. So, when it comes to planning this year’s work Christmas party, we’d like to present the ultimate party venue; let’s get out on Sydney Harbour!
A Christmas party boat cruise on Sydney Harbour isn’t just great for the fantastic picture-perfect scenery. It’s also awesomely hassle-free to organise. The options are endless and if you like, you can have everything included in the boat hire. Think fully catered food and drinks, entertainment and (live) music. And best of all, it works with any budget and any group size!
From 7 – 150+ people and from as little as $100/pp, you can arrange an all inclusive fully catered work Christmas extravaganza! Being out on a boat for your annual Christmas do is great for lifting the general spirit. And also not a bad example to give when attracting new candidates, if asked what the company culture is like. 😉
So, if you’re responsible for coming up with this year’s staff Christmas party ideas, why not lead with a boat party? Let’s go through the checklist, and help you plan a stand out work Christmas party.
The answer is yes! With boats available for groups of any size, hiring a boat for your work Christmas party is a great venue idea.
If you’re part of the party planning committee, you know that the first (and hardest) step is trying to find a work Christmas party venue in Sydney. Getting the venue right is a tricky job as you do want to allow for space to fit everyone comfortably. But at the same time you don’t want the venue to be too big as the goal is to have people mingling, engaging and building those interpersonal connections. Christmas parties are great for boosting morale, keeping your staff engaged and having them feel connected to their colleagues and the company.
If you think about it, a boat or yacht is the perfect venue for your work Christmas party. With ample seating space inside and out, your staff will be able to engage while basking in the sun or relaxing inside covered in the shade. Everyone will love the exclusivity as there will be no distractions from outside.
Whether you’re a start-up that wants to give your staff something to talk about or an ASX listed company that wants to throw the biggest and baddest Christmas bash of the century, we got you! Get in touch, let’s talk numbers, and we will find the perfect vessel for you.
Did you know that on a boat you could actually eat like you’re at your favourite restaurant? Just because you’re floating on the harbour doesn’t mean that the only food on offer is a good ol’ sausage sizzle (which we do love, don’t get us wrong 🌭😍).
Some vessels offer catering options that can be prepared on board by 5-star chefs. It all depends on your budget and the overall vibe you’re going for. If you prefer to keep it simple, you can BYO food and drinks. Most boats have a BBQ on board, and you can keep your drinks cool in the onboard eskies. If you opt for BYO, the skipper and crew will even help you with the cooking!
Not keen on the food shop and want to have everything organised for you? From just $20/pp you can choose a BBQ package that will get everyone well-fed. Not worrying about the food leaves you with more time planning the fun stuff – such as the boat party theme!
If you’re looking to offer a greater variety of food than a basic BBQ package, there are multiple options. You can choose for a banquet with salads, sides and two mains from $65/pp. You can also spoil the crew with fancy canapés, luxury seafood platters and charcuterie boards; the sky’s the limit!
We’ll help you plan your food options with our specialised yacht caterers like Shared Affair, or set you up with boat options that can be prepared by onboard chefs. The world’s your oyster, and yes, we can arrange that you can have them catered too! 😉
It goes without saying that when it’s time to get the CEO hyped to give their best “Leo – Wolf of Wall Street” speech, you’ll need a glass of bubbly on the ready.
There are several options available for organising your Christmas boat party drinks. The majority of boats offer BYO, meaning you can bring onboard your own beers, wines and bottles of bubbly. You can keep your drinks nicely chilled in either onboard eskies or a fridge. Some boats are licenced, which means you can choose a drinks package or pay for the drinks on consumption.
Drinks packages are most popular for work Christmas boat hire and start at $15/pp per hour. This will get you covered for your standard beers and house wine. Platinum drink packages are available upon request and if you want to go all out, we’re all for it! Let’s make this years’ Christmas toast on the high seas! 🥂
If your marketing and design team worked hard to put together that epic annual video montage, they won’t be disappointed with the onboard set-up. Many boats offer flat screens, speaker systems and more to ensure your staff gets that critical Christmas cheer message. So, get everyone to gather around, it’s time to toast to a job well done.
Is your office in the city? Manly? North Sydney? No worries! We can arrange a pick-up point pretty much anywhere in the harbour. Depending on the group size, there may be some limitations to the bigger boats, but we’ll make sure to get you sorted. One thing to keep in mind is where the after-party is? Make sure whoever has the company card is well hydrated, and we’ll help you plan a drop-off spot nice and close to your Christmas after-party venue.
If you’re not just satisfied with the fantastic harbour views and pristine company group photo locations 😉, we have some extra options to outdo yourself. Get the company Christmas competitive spirits going with laser clay shooting from the bow. Or hire a private DJ and see who has the best (or worst – our money is on the CFO 😎) dance moves in the group!
So far everything sounds good right? But now let’s get serious and talk about one of the things that matters most. Budget. The good news is that there are options for everyone! Regardless if you’re on a tight budget or if you’ve been given the green light to max out that company credit card.
We can organise a 4-hour BYO catamaran for a work party cruise for as little as $70pp. If fully catered has your preference, you’d be looking at approx. $100- $140/pp all up for a 4-hour boat hire with captain, crew, a BBQ and free flowing drinks package. To get a better idea of pricing per boat type, have a read of our blog “How Much Does it Cost to Hire a Yacht or Boat on Sydney Harbour?”.
The standard inclusions are the hire of your boat, which will come with a captain and crew. If you choose a catered option, it can also come with waitstaff. All boats are kitted out with speakers (bluetooth or aux cable) so you can play your own music if you like. Wharfs will be booked for your pick up and drop off, we will take care of this all. Most boats have BBQs and eskies for you to use. You don’t have to worry about the clean up after, the captain and their crew will take care of this.
We will provide you with optional add-ons per vessel, including food, drinks and entertainment. You tell us your requirements, we look after the rest.
The main thing you need to do is choose a date. If you’re booking a weekday, you are more likely to find something closer to the date as weekends book up quickly. Also, not everyone will be free to attend the work Christmas party if it’s hosted outside of working hours. Aaaaand remember it makes employees feel great knowing that they’re partying in the boss’ time. 💃🕺
Besides choosing the date, leave all the organisation to us. All we then need is the group size and budget to get to work and find you the perfect boat.
